Drug abuse among entertainers an issue of insecurity – Trigmatic

The trend of using hard drugs among entertainers “is not good,” star singer and rapper Trigmatic has noted.
“This is not something we should be silent about. It’s not good and it is harmful to your own self,” he added. “You become a slave to it.”
Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo had noted how, in his experience, musicians demanded hard drugs from event organisers for their performances and had come into the habit of openly using same even on social media.
“I think a lot of them need to bury their insecurities and insufficiencies because if you love yourself, you don’t harm yourself,” Trig said.
The multiple award-winning entertainer and former radio presenter remembered a time ago when he went to Body World, Amsterdam, Netherlands (Holland), where he saw “people donate their organs to be put on display.
“When you see a drinker’s liver, and a smoker’s lungs – preserved for all to see – and you’d still continue in such [harmful] practices, it’s up to you. It was so bad. It is so bad.”
“I don’t see why something that would kill or destroy you – because advertisers or marketers have made it cool… If you feel that’s what would give you validation, then you’re weak,” he admonished.
Trigmatic said at the bottom of the abuse of drugs was a thirst for validation.
Citing the ghetto to make his point, he revealed he had lived in Sukura Flamingo in Accra before, where he witnessed people, including some of his family members, get into the habit of using drugs.
“When you go to the ghetto, if you don’t use drugs you are rebuked for not being guy enough. It’s an issue of validation. If you are confident, you don’t need all those things because it destroys you,” he said.
He said some abused drugs claiming to seek alertness.
“Most of the time they feel someone is after them. So they say they are always alert, wild and watching. What kind of thing is that?”
The author of The Lion’s Aide cautioned, “Anytime you notice you’re addicted to something, then it is something that’s controlling you. So why would you want to put yourself under that?
“Some go out and smoke shisha but if you ask them why they do so, they can’t explain. It [just] looks cool. So it’s all in their mind.
“So if you can, stop because it won’t help you [eventually].”
