From fan to A&R executive: Eric Toscar signs with Lynx Entertainment
Eric Toscar, born Eric Agyapong-Mensah, has joined the roster of the acclaimed Lynx Entertainment.
Toscar, a content creator, talent manager and entertainment pundit, joins Lynx as the latest Artiste and Repertoire (A&R) executive.
In an exclusive interview with Class News’ Prince Benjamin (PB), he explained his role, revealing, also, the Lynx talent assigned to him.
He said: “Basically I’m the manager for Lynx Entertainment signee St Lennon. I handle everything about him. I liaise between the artiste and the management at the top.”
Working with the 15-year-old label, he added, “feels like a dream come true”.
“Growing up I was a huge fan of all Lynx Entertainment artistes, from Asem to Richie to Eazzy and the others. I feel great to be part of the Lynx family now,” Eric said.
The former Talent Relations Officer at Muse Africa disclosed the source of his admiration for Lynx, founded by singer-songwriter, record producer, sound engineer, and music executive Richie Mensah, noting how unique it is in the Ghana music ecosystem.
“The structure and reputation of the label. Lynx Entertainment is structured like every corporate entity you know in this country. It isn’t like other labels where one person does all the job. At Lynx, there is an administration team, HR, a team in charge of finance, a team in of marketing, a team in charge of creative development and direction, and others,” the Manchester United fan enumerated.
His dream, he underlined, “is one, to contribute and help the label achieve its goal to become one of best labels in Africa and beyond”.
Eric Toscar expressed confidence he will flourish on this new adventure principally because of “my experience in the industry and networks I’ve built all these years”.
The Lynx A&R noted his love for music, looking back, also, on the days that perhaps unbeknownst to him prepared him for this momentous season.
“Growing up, music has always been part of my life. It was my escape, comfort and inspiration. I started as an entertainment prefect organising weekly entertainment shows (mostly music related) in a hall at Nkawkaw Senior High School,” he said, adding, this progressed later into “working on one of the biggest music festivals in Africa, Afro Nation Ghana – and being part of the production of 3 Music Awards for its the last 5 editions it has had.”
Chiefly inspired by prominent media executive Bola Ray, Eric Toscar has worked in varied capacities, including event production member, talent and project manager for events like Afro Nation, Wildaland, Guinness World Records (GWR) attempt by Efua Asantewaa Aduonum, etc; artistes like Black Sherif, Kuami Eugene, Amerado, Wisa Greid, etc; and comics like OB Amponsah, Jeffery Nortey, Lekzy De Comic, etc.
Meanwhile, Lynx Entertainment is legendary for grooming music stars across generations like Richie, Asem, Eazzy, MzVee, Kuami Eugene, and KiDi, among others.
