Ghana Tourism Authority CEO calls for grassroots improvements in tourism sector

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Mrs. Maame Efua Houadjeto, has underscored the need to tackle challenges at the grassroots level of the tourism sector to enhance its growth and appeal.
During an unofficial visit to Accra’s Independence Square over the weekend, Mrs. Houadjeto emphasized plans to improve sanitation at tourist sites, particularly beaches, which are key assets in Ghana’s tourism industry.
Her Deputy CEO, Mr. Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey Santana, commended the initiative, stressing that maintaining clean and attractive tourist sites is crucial in preserving Ghana’s heritage and boosting the country’s appeal to visitors.
He further noted that keeping the beachfront active 24/7 aligns with President John Mahama’s 24-Hour Economy vision, highlighting the important role of tourism stakeholders in making this vision a reality.
