Joe Mettle eulogises 'great brother' KODA; 'God knows best'
There are “plenty fondest memories” with KODA, singer Joe Mettle has said.
Struggling to choose his favourite, however, he revealed the “very first song I ever released officially was produced by KODA”.
Mettle said: “At the time [KODA] had this small corner studio,” in Takoradi.
He recalled “every few weeks,” KODA would come to Accra from Takoradi, “when we used to play for [the late] Minister Danny Nettey,” noting the freshly late musician and record producer would man the guitars on the team.
He emphasised “as for memories, there are plenty,” remembering “the last event we had with him in Takoradi” during which “we spent a lot of time together, gisting, talking about plans and all of those things”.
“In fact, the last time I spoke with him, he said he now was about to produce a new album and he’d want some equipment – I rent [music] equipment and stuff on the side,” he added.
Joe Mettle said he assured KODA of availing to him the equipment he needed whenever he was ready and later flew off to the United States of America (USA).
“The next thing I heard, he was gone,” he said, noting he was shocked because “this was when he was fine and everything”.
Joe Mettle spoke to Mr Lion on Class Drive on Class 91.3 FM, Thursday, June 13, 2024.
Eulogising KODA, a multiple award-winning Contemporary Gospel artiste and sound engineer, he said: “He was a great guy. Great brother by all standards.”

He emphasised KODA’s openness to help, and his humility, demonstrated by how he would solicit for his advice even though “I was the younger one”.
Ultimately, Joe Mettle said, “God knows best.”
