Kwaisey Pee bemoans 'Efya, Stonebwoy, others' refusing to collaborate; 'You're sick in the head' overestimating social media numbers
Kwaisey Pee has bemoaned “when I was trying to get a collaboration from Efya, Stonebwoy and the others, they didn’t want to do it because, one, they are checking your numbers on social media”.
He was speaking to Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo.
“They forget a lot of our followers are not on social media,” the Highlife star added.
To buttress, he cited Daddy Lumba, arguing though he has ginormous popularity, he does not have a lot of figures on social media.
“Or Kojo Antwi, Amakye Dede – visit their pages and see the number of followers they have,” he challenged.
It is different with today’s stars like Kuami Eugene and the rest, he contrasted, “because their age group likes the internet”.
Kwaisey Pee had the audience imagine a musician turning down a collaboration with Lumba because of social media numbers. “You’d be a sick person,” he charged, touching his temple for emphasis.
“Sometimes I get really upset, and then again, people will come to me and make some unnecessary or useless comments that the guy feels bitter,” he added, clarifying: “I don’t feel bitter. I’m telling you the truth.”
“If you speak the truth in Ghana, they say you are bitter. The country is sick. There are diverse sickness in the country, in the mind. They are sick in the mind. There are a lot of mental health issues in Ghana we don’t take seriously. Nana, people are sick in the mind,” the popular singer-songwriter said.
Returning to the original concern, Kwaisey Pee stressed: “Some of us, our followers are not on social media. Excuse me to say, some may have even died. So if you expect me to get 500,000 followers before you collaborate with me, you’re a sick person.”
The Me Hia Odo (I Need Love) hitmaker concluded by proposing all that is necessary to partner with someone is “they are very good talent-wise, experience, years in industry and not followers”.
