Kweku Smoke credits Sarkodie for music career guidance amid fraud crackdowns
Ghanaian Hip-hop artist Kweku Smoke has publicly thanked rap icon and businessman Sarkodie, suggesting that the veteran musician's guidance kept him on a legitimate career path.
In a post shared on the social media platform X, Kweku Smoke uploaded a photograph of Sarkodie accompanied by the caption: "My lord [thank you emoji] God bless you. If uno show me work, like by now FBI carry me."
The latter part of the caption is written in Pidgin, and translates as: "If you had not shown me this work, the FBI would have carried me away by now."
The apparently lighthearted remark appears to thank Sarkodie for helping him understand the music business well enough to avoid illicit activities that could attract law enforcement scrutiny.
The statement coincides with heightened activity from the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), who have been actively arresting and extraditing Ghanaian nationals allegedly involved in fraudulent operations targeting American victims.
The post follows a surprise collaboration between the two artists titled Major League.
The duo recently teamed up on the track Violence, which was released after Kweku Smoke secured his first Ghana Music Awards trophies and achieved viral success with his Kweku Jesus and Born In Hell tapes. Kweku Smoke prominently featured Sarkodie on his breakout single Yedin (Be Quiet) of 2019.
