Ghanaian rapper and singer Kwesi Arthur has publicly accused his former record label, Ground Up Chale, of exploitation, manipulation, and intimidation in what he describes as a long-standing dispute over his music and personal brand.

In a strongly worded statement, the award-winning artiste alleged that he is being asked to pay $150,000 simply for using images of himself in his latest independent project.

According to him, the label continues to claim ownership over his image, music catalogue, and brand — rights he says date back to when he signed with them in 2016.

Kwesi Arthur, who parted ways with the label after releasing his album Son of Jacob, claims he has not earned any income from his music during the years he worked under the label.

“I have not made a dime from any of my music within the period I worked with them for years now,” he stated.

The Grind Day and Winning hitmaker specifically mentioned Glen Boateng, a key member of the label’s team, accusing him of issuing threats, manipulating situations, and profiting unfairly from his work.

Arthur further alleged that these actions have severely affected his mental health and personal safety.

After years of silence, the rapper said he decided to speak out to protect his career and well-being.

He warned that any attempt to take down his current independent project should be blamed on Boateng, whom he accuses of deliberately trying to derail his progress.

“He is working constantly around the clock for me to never put out music again,” Arthur claimed.

The allegations have since stirred widespread reactions within Ghana’s entertainment industry, sparking conversations about artist rights, transparency in contracts, and intellectual property protections.

Fans and fellow musicians have called for accountability and fairness in the business side of music.

As of now, Ground Up Chale has not issued an official response to the claims.
