Minority Caucus visits Atiwa West MP to commiserate over mother’s passing
The Minority Caucus in Parliament, led by the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo Markin, on Saturday paid a solemn visit to the family of Madam Laurate Korkor Asante, the Member of Parliament for Atiwa West, to express their condolences following the passing of her mother, Mrs. Vida Adwoa Ago Asante.
The delegation visited the family residence at Dzorwulu to commiserate with the MP; her father, Piesie Kofi Asante; her brother, Nana Asante Bediatuo; and other family members.
Mrs. Vida Adwoa Ago Asante, whose passing was announced recently, is remembered as a matriarch whose life and values deeply influenced her family.
Her son, Nana Asante Bediatuo, serves as the Executive Secretary to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, highlighting the family's significant role in public service.
During the visit, the Minority Leader, Afenyo Markin, conveyed the caucus's heartfelt sympathies and solidarity with Mr Laurate Korkor Asante and her entire family.
He described the loss as a profound one, not just for the family but also for the many lives touched by the late Mrs. Asante.
“We stand with our colleague, Hon. Laurate Korkor Asante, and her distinguished family in this period of grief.
The loss of a mother is irreplaceable, and we pray that the fond memories of Mrs. Vida Adwoa Ago Asante bring them comfort and peace,” Hon. Afenyo Markin stated.
The visit underscores the tradition of parliamentary camaraderie and support during times of personal bereavement. The Minority Caucus expressed its collective hope that the soul of Mrs. Vida Adwoa Ago Asante finds eternal rest.
“We join the family in prayer and reflection, and we ask for divine strength for them as they navigate this difficult period,” the Minority Leader added.
The family has acknowledged the outpouring of support from colleagues, friends, and the public since the announcement of their loss.
