Manhyia Palace denies involvement in Daddy Lumba’s funeral arrangements
The Manhyia Palace has officially dissociated itself from reports suggesting it is involved in the funeral and burial arrangements of Ghanaian highlife legend Mr. Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.
In a public announcement aired on Opemsuo 104.7 FM and shared across its communication platforms, the Palace called on the public to ignore any information that links it to preparations for the late musician’s final rites.
According to the statement, “Manhyia urges the general public to disregard any reports attempting to associate the Palace with matters concerning the preparations for the burial and funeral rites of Mr. Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.”
The disclaimer follows increasing rumours circulating on social media and in some news outlets, suggesting that the Ashanti Kingdom’s royal seat might be involved in the arrangements.
The Palace’s swift response appears aimed at maintaining clarity, avoiding misrepresentation, and reinforcing that it has no role in the musician’s funeral planning.
Daddy Lumba—whose illustrious career spans more than 30 years—remains one of Ghana’s most celebrated and influential musicians.
News of his passing has sparked widespread tributes from fans, fellow artists, industry stakeholders, and national figures.
As of now, the family of the late icon has not released an official programme for the funeral.
The Palace’s statement emphasises that all decisions and announcements regarding the rites are the sole responsibility of the family and designated representatives.
