NFA: Government releases ¢5m to Film Development Fund
Government has released GH¢5 million of the GH¢20 million allocated to the Film Development Fund, the National Film Authority (NFA) has confirmed.
According to the Executive Secretary of the NFA, Kafui Danku, the amount has been paid into the Authority's account as part of government's commitment to support the development of Ghana's film industry.
The GH¢20 million allocation was announced by Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson during the presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement on November 13, 2025.
The fund was earmarked as seed capital to support the revival of Ghana's film industry, including Kumawood and other industry associations.
Speaking to myjoyonline.com's Kwame Dadzie following the launch of the Film Development Fund on May 20, 2026, the Executive Secretary confirmed that GH¢5 million has so far been disbursed.
"Government has so far released 5 million cedis as part of the 20 million cedis seed fund commitment," she told Kwame Dadzie.
The Film Development Fund is aimed at supporting the growth of Ghana's film industry through research, training, infrastructure development and financial assistance for eligible projects.
