Obaa Yaa Grace Ashly laments GHAMRO's 'greed', GHS100 payout
"Over 10 years I've not taken anything from GHAMRO and they can confirm from their books," Obaa Yaa Grace Ashly has said.
This was after she was deeply hurt when she was paid only GHS100 through a bank near the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO), she explained.
"It got to a point, they took our numbers to send the royalties to our phones but I never got it. So I took my mind of it, eventually," she bemoaned.
The Gospel and cheer star spoke with Taller Dee on Journey to Heaven on No.1 FM, 105.3.
Simply known as Grace Ashly, she indicated it would not be out of place if she was receiving "even GHS5,000 annually" in royalties.
"Why should I drive, and walk in only to receive GHS100?" she lamented. "I'll rather leave the money to them."
She was asked what she thought the problem was at GHAMRO.
"It's greed," she promptly responded. "The Bible says the labourer is worth their wages. We must pay a person when they deserve it."
She commended "my sister Akosua Agyapong for incessantly fighting" the corruption at GHAMRO.
