Shatta Wale fans besiege EOCO office in Accra

Fans of dancehall icon Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, on Thursday massed up at the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to demand his release after his detention over alleged tax compliance breaches.
EOCO has since confirmed that the artist had been granted bail set at GH₵10 million, with two sureties to be justified, pending the completion of all legal formalities.
In a social media video, Shatta Wale’s media manager, Samuel Atuobi Baah (Sammy Flex), revealed that the artist’s legal team and management are working to satisfy the bail conditions.
He further cautioned against speculation, stressing that EOCO’s inquiry is linked specifically to tax obligations surrounding Shatta Wale’s yellow Lamborghini and aspects of his business operations, and not other rumours circulating online.
Shatta Wale was detained on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, as part of EOCO’s wider probe into luxury vehicle ownership and tax compliance.
