Singapore honours President Mahama with an Orchid naming ceremony

President John Dramani Mahama has been honoured in Singapore with a special orchid hybrid named after him at the National Orchid Garden of the Singapore Botanic Gardens.
The ceremony, held during President Mahama’s visit, saw the unveiling of the orchid named “Vanda John Dramani Mahama.”
The newly christened hybrid will now be featured in the Garden’s prestigious “VIP Orchids” collection, which showcases orchids named after global leaders and distinguished guests.
The National Orchid Garden has a longstanding tradition of honouring visiting heads of state, heads of government, and other eminent personalities by naming orchid hybrids in their recognition.
During his tour, President Mahama signed the visitors’ book and was given a briefing on the history and significance of the Botanic Gardens.
Beyond their beauty, officials noted, these orchids symbolise Singapore’s resilience, growth, and transformation, making them a fitting tribute to international figures who share in the spirit of progress and collaboration.
