Sonnie Badu remembers ‘reprogramming’ a gay man with a single comment
Founder and pastor of Rock Hill Church in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, Sonnie Badu has recalled how he led a man off the LGBTQIA+ path, with just a comment.
He spoke to Nana Romeo on the Ayekoo Ayekoo midmorning show on Accra 100.5 FM.
“A man in my church – when he joined the church, he was quite young – the moment I saw him, I noticed this guy is gifted but he could mistakenly go left [wayward]. And I had to rewind him mentally,” he narrated.
“He’s so gifted!” Badu gushed, adding: “One time, I looked at him carefully and said: ‘Looking at your gift, you need to have many children so they can also receive it’.
“That comment hit him like a rocket! So he responded with: ‘That’s true! I cannot die without passing this gift on. It cannot end in the grave’.”
Sonnie Badu said he affirmed that thought from the unnamed young man, advising him “to start going after women” instead of men.
“That’s how he started introducing girlfriends to me,” he added.
Furthermore, the Gospel star remembered once placing a random call to the man instructing him to stop whatever he was doing at that particular time.
“When he came to see me, he confessed: ‘I was going to sleep with a church leader but I don’t know what prompted you to call me to stop’,” Badu narrated.
Sonnie Badu lamented how the LGBTQIA+ culture is “everywhere” now and how widespread it is in America, even among church leaders and “78 per cent” of American Gospel musicians.
