Filmmaker TG Omori has reported receiving a kidney from his only brother.

"Yesterday, my only brother gave me one of his kidney[s]," he wrote on X, Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

According to the Nigerian star, the kidney donation was to help "so I could live again".

On Wednesday, he explained his brother's kindness came "one year after my kidney crashed".

He had some unfortunate news, however, as he added: "I just had a failed transplant at St Nicolas Lagos".

TG Omori, thus, asked his fans to "pray for me".

The next X post from the filmmaker who has proven indispensable on the Afrobeats scene registered his resilience in the face of medical complications.

"Went into this theater three times," the award-winning videographer said, noting everything pointed to the fact that he "just wasn’t destined to die today".

On Instagram, attaching the picture above, he doubled down on his resolve to come out of this dark moment victorious.

"Will be up soon. I promise!" he wrote.

On May 1, Omori lamented the state of health care in Nigeria via X: "The health system in Nigeria crazy! You [have to] fight for your life with both your eyes open!"

Earlier on April 20, he had announced: "[I] quit smoking today." He did not, however, specify what substance he had been in the habit of smoking.

TG Omori has directed numerous landmark music videos for Afrobeats hits including Fireboy DML's Bandana featuring Asake and Black Sherif's 45.
