Dave Bishop to receive Ghanaian citizenship for community development
Mr Dave Bishop, the development chief of Nyanfeku Ekroful in the Central Region, is set to be officially awarded Ghanaian citizenship in a ceremony at the Accra International Conference Centre on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.
Known by his title Nana Ekow Amu I, Bishop has dedicated himself to transforming the lives of people in his adopted community since his enstoolment on December 30, 2023.
His Ghanaian citizenship is being conferred in recognition of his efforts to drive social and economic growth in the region.
As the founder of Dave’s Choice Community Development Corp, Bishop has championed several initiatives aimed at enhancing Ghana’s tourism sector.
Among these is GoingToGhana.com, a flagship project that strengthens ties between the United States and Africa by offering travellers immersive experiences in Ghana’s rich culture and heritage.
Nana Ekow Amu I’s vision goes beyond tourism.
One of his upcoming projects is the “Mother’s Day in the Motherland” event, a week-long celebration scheduled for May 2025 in Accra to honour the contributions of mothers worldwide.
This event will offer participants an in-depth experience of Ghanaian heritage while celebrating motherhood.
In June 2025, Bishop will host “Motown in the Motherland,” a cultural exchange event running from June 15–22 to coincide with Juneteenth.
This event is expected to draw artisans, healthcare professionals, real estate investors, and musicians from Detroit’s iconic Motown community to engage with Ghanaian professionals, fostering cross-cultural collaboration and growth.
Bishop is also preparing to launch a concierge service at Kotoka International Airport to assist first-time visitors in exploring Ghana.
Furthermore, he is leading the construction of a ten-bedroom maternity ward in the Central Region.
This facility, once complete, will provide critical support for new mothers and their infants, addressing an essential healthcare need in the area.
Bishop’s contributions exemplify his commitment to both his community and to strengthening Ghana’s international ties.
His citizenship ceremony marks a significant milestone in a journey defined by service and dedication.
