A/R: 3 men in their early 20s jailed 75 years IHL over armed robbery

The Ashanti North Police Command has indicated that three individuals have been convicted and sentenced to a total of 75 years' imprisonment with hard labour (HL) for robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.
On Thursday, 26th September 2025, Nasiru Abdul-Malik, 22, Solomon Kwaku Annor Clinton, 23, and Hakeem Ibrahim, 20, were sentenced by the Offinso Circuit Court, presided over by His Honour Paul Oduro ESQ.
"The accused persons pleaded guilty simpliciter to the charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery," police revealed.
Based on their own pleas, the court convicted and sentenced them as follows:
- Nasiru Abdul-Malik, 10 years IHL for conspiracy and 15 years IHL for robbery
- Solomon Kwaku Annor Clinton, 10 years IHL for conspiracy and 15 years 1HL for robbery
- Hakeem Ibrahim, 10 years IHL for conspiracy and 13 years IHL for robbery.
"All sentences are to run concurently," police said.
"The convicts have since been transferred to the Kumasi Central Prisons to begin serving their custodial sentences."
Background
On September 22, 2025, a driver and his mate were transporting bags of fertiliser in a DAF trailer truck, registration number ER 1703 - X, from Tema to Wa. Upon reaching Asempaneye, near Akomadan, along the Kumasi-Techimun highway, the truck broke down and was parked at a roadside vulcanising shop for repairs.
In the early hours of September 23, at about 1:30 AM, the convicted three, all residents of Asempaneye, armed themselves with an axe, a machete, and a pair of scissors, and attacked the driver and his mate.
They robbed them of the following:
- Samsung A24 Ultra smartphone, valued at GHS14,000.00
- Itel smartphone, valued at GHS400.00
- ltel keypad phone, valued at GHS100.00
- A black backpack, with personal effects
- A red and blue bag, with personal effects
- GHS140.00 cash
With the swifit intervention of the youth of Asempaneye, all three robbers were arrested the same day.
The stolen items were retrieved from them, and during police investigations, they admitted to committing the crimes.
