C/R: Interior Minister opens church-funded fire station in Gomoa East
The Minister for the Interior, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, has inaugurated a newly constructed fire station at Yesukrom-Fetteh in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
The facility, which was fully funded, built, and furnished by The Church of Pentecost, is expected to significantly boost emergency response efforts in the area.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Minister lauded the church’s bold initiative, describing it as a shining example of how faith-based organisations can contribute meaningfully to national development.
“This bold and generous act speaks volumes about how such partnerships can strengthen our disaster preparedness and public safety efforts,” he stated.
The new fire station is part of The Church of Pentecost’s broader “Possessing the Nations” agenda, aimed at transforming society through spiritual and social interventions.
The facility will serve as a key resource for the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), which has seen its mandate expanded beyond fire suppression to managing a wide range of complex emergencies.
The Minister emphasised the importance of modern infrastructure in enhancing the effectiveness of the GNFS and expressed appreciation to Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, and the church’s leadership for their continued commitment to nation-building.
The opening marks a significant milestone in collaborative efforts between religious institutions and the state to improve essential public services across Ghana.
