Charles Amissah: Minority Leader demands parliamentary probe into death of hit-and-run victim at Accra hospitals
The Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has called on the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, to direct the Health Committee to invite the administrators of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), Police Hospital, and Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital) to appear before it over claims that a hit-and-run victim, Charles Amissah, was refused treatment on February 6, 2026 — a situation said to have resulted in his death.
Effutu MP Afenyo-Markin insisted the issue must not be swept aside, emphasising that anyone proven to have acted improperly should face disciplinary measures to prevent a recurrence.
The Effutu legislator further stressed the need for a comprehensive probe by the Health Committee to establish the facts surrounding the incident, determine if there was any medical negligence, and ensure accountability where necessary.
He further called on the Ghana Police Service (GPS) to intensify efforts to identify and apprehend the driver responsible for the incident.
