E/R: Tragedy strikes as 14-year-old BECE candidate dies after first day of exams in Kwahu South

The Kwahu South Municipality has been hit with grief following the sudden death of a 14-year-old Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidate, Jennifer Osei Nyamah, shortly after completing the first day of the nationwide exams.
Jennifer, a student of Kwahu Praso Preparatory School, reportedly fell ill at the start of the exams.
Her untimely passing has sent shockwaves through the school and the entire community.
Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Williams Frimpong, confirmed the heartbreaking news in a media interview.
He stated that Jennifer passed away after a short illness and urged her fellow candidates to remain focused and composed despite the tragedy.
According to Jennifer’s father, Mr. Osei Gordon, his daughter began experiencing headaches before the exams commenced. Although she managed to write the first paper, her condition deteriorated shortly afterwards.
She was initially taken to a local clinic and later referred to the Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw, where she was sadly pronounced dead.
Jennifer’s sudden death has left her classmates and teachers deeply traumatised.
Many of her peers expressed disbelief and sorrow, describing her as a cheerful and hardworking student.
Teachers at the school have since provided emotional support and counselling to the affected students, encouraging them to stay calm and continue with the remaining papers.
An investigation is expected to be conducted into the circumstances surrounding Jennifer’s death as the community mourns the loss of a promising young life.
