Ghana, China mark 98th anniversary of People’s Liberation Army with renewed commitment to bilateral cooperation

Ghana’s Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, joined the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Tong Defa, to commemorate the 98th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), celebrating decades of strong diplomatic and military cooperation between the two nations.

The ceremony highlighted the enduring partnership between Ghana and China, particularly in areas of defence collaboration, infrastructure development, and mutual support for global peace and security.

Dr. Omane Boamah commended China for its sustained support in enhancing Ghana’s military capabilities, including the provision of equipment, training, and technical assistance.

He noted that the collaboration has significantly contributed to Ghana’s national defence infrastructure and operational readiness.

“As we celebrate this important milestone, we also honour the solid partnership between our countries,” he stated.

“China’s assistance has been invaluable in strengthening our armed forces and advancing our shared vision of peace and development.”

The Defence Minister emphasised the importance of deepening the relationship, calling for continued cooperation to address emerging security challenges and promote regional and global stability.

The event concluded with a shared commitment to building a safer and more prosperous future through mutual respect, strategic collaboration, and strengthened diplomatic ties.

 

“May the friendship between Ghana and China continue to grow, reinforcing our collective efforts to ensure peace, security, and progress across the world,” Dr. Omane Boamah affirmed.
