Greater Accra Old Vandals Association elects new leadership
The Greater Accra Branch of the Old Vandals Association has elected a new executive team to guide the Association’s activities for the upcoming term.
The elections took place on Friday, 14 November 2025, at the 37 Military Officers Mess in Accra, drawing members from across multiple generations of the Vandal fraternity.
Following a transparent and spirited electoral process, Andy Akwetea emerged as President-Elect, winning the confidence of members with his vision for unity, revitalisation, and strategic development within the Association.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Akwetea expressed heartfelt gratitude to the fraternity for entrusting him with leadership and pledged to work closely with the National Executive Committee (NEC) to bring meaningful change and renewed energy to the Association.
“Together with the National Executive Committee, we are committed to restoring Commonwealth Hall to its original glory.
We will work tirelessly to bridge the gap between older Vandals and the younger generation and also create job opportunities for young Vandals who are struggling to find their feet,” he stated.
He further emphasised that unity, discipline, and strategic development will define his administration, promising to uphold the values and heritage of Commonwealth Hall while positioning the Old Vandals Association as a strong voice in national discourse and youth development.
The newly elected officers are:
Andy Akwetea – President-Elect
Makafui K. Azasu – Secretary-Elect
Charles Oduro-Frikyi – Treasurer-Elect
Philip Antwi – Organiser-Elect
Members praised the peaceful and well-organised election, expressing optimism that the new leadership would bring cohesion and renewed purpose to the Association’s activities across Greater Accra.
The evening concluded with solidarity messages, networking among Vandals of different year groups, and a renewed call to uphold and promote the legacy of Commonwealth Hall, while living by the VANDAL values: Vivacious, Affable, Neighbourly, Dedicated, Altruistic, and Loyal.
