Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Amiss Thomas Mitchell, welcomed to Ghana by Health Minister Mintah Akandoh

The Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Amiss Thomas Mitchell, has arrived in Ghana for a two-day official visit, aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between Ghana and the Caribbean island nation.

Prime Minister Mitchell was received at the Presidential lounge by the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dzifa Abla Gomashie, and other senior government officials, underscoring the significance Ghana attached to this high-level visit.

The visit began on a productive note with the inaugural Ghana–Grenada Political Consultation Meeting, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs shortly after the prime minister’s arrival. The meeting marked an important milestone in deepening political and economic cooperation between the two nations.

On Friday, 17th October, 2025, the prime minister’s itinerary includes several key engagements:

* Bilateral Talks: with President John Dramani Mahama at The Presidency.

* State Luncheon: hosted by President Mahama in honour of the visiting Grenadian delegation.

* Memorial Visit: to the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, where Prime Minister Mitchell will pay tribute to Ghana’s founding father.

* Departure: scheduled for later in the evening.

This visit builds on a wave of strengthened cooperation between Ghana and Grenada.

In 2024, both nations signed landmark bilateral agreements — including a visa waiver pact to facilitate easier travel and frameworks for enhanced cooperation in culture, trade, and education — setting the stage for a new era of partnership between Africa and the Caribbean.
