La Dade-Kotopon MCE commends Green Africa Youth Organisation for promoting sustainable agriculture

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for La Dade-Kotopon, Mr. Alfredo Nii Anyetei, has applauded the Green Africa Youth Organisation (GAYO) for its innovative initiative to convert organic waste into compost for farmers within the municipality. He noted that the gesture will not only boost sustainable agriculture but also help reduce waste in the community.
Mr. Anyetei emphasised that agriculture continues to play an important role in La, despite the area’s reputation for housing estates and businesses. He pointed out that farmlands still exist around Airport Hills and other areas, and GAYO’s intervention would directly benefit farmers working there.
Encouraging young people to see agriculture as a viable career path, the MCE shared his own experience with backyard gardening. He explained that even small gardens can be rewarding, providing fresh produce, leisure activity, and additional income opportunities.
The MCE also highlighted the importance of recycling and innovative waste management. He urged businesses and organisations to consider investing in recycling ventures that can transform waste into useful products such as organic fertiliser, thereby supporting local farming efforts.
Expressing his appreciation, Mr. Anyetei commended GAYO for their dedication and urged them to sustain their good work.
He further called on other like-minded organisations to join in supporting the municipality’s drive toward sustainable agriculture and effective waste management.
