Lands Ministry intervenes in Azumah Resources and Engineers & Planners dispute

The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has stepped in to mediate a growing dispute between two major players in Ghana’s mining sector—Azumah Resources Ghana Limited and Engineers & Planners (E&P) Company Limited.
In a letter dated July 10, 2025, and addressed to the leadership of both companies, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, gave the parties a final seven-day window to amicably resolve their differences.
The Ministry’s intervention follows a series of public exchanges and press statements from both companies that have heightened tensions surrounding their disagreement.
“In light of the circumstances, I have decided to grant the parties a final period of seven (7) days within which to resolve the matter amicably,” the Minister stated, warning that if the parties fail to reach a consensus within the stipulated timeframe, the Ministry will intervene with a decision that serves “the best interest of the country.”
Minister Buah further urged both companies to cease all media commentary to allow space for constructive dialogue and responsible engagement.
He also tasked the Minerals Commission to actively facilitate the mediation process to ensure that the dispute does not derail the planned commencement of the mining project in question.
The Ministry’s move underscores growing concern over the impact of corporate disputes on Ghana’s investment climate, particularly in the strategic extractive sector.
With the government prioritising increased local participation and investor confidence, resolving this standoff is seen as critical to maintaining stability and progress in the mining industry
