National Coalition Against Illegal Mining formed

A National Coalition Against Illegal Mining (NCAIM) has been formed.
The coalition made the announcement in a letter dated Tuesday, 1 October 2024, signed by Arimiyaw Wusama.
The letter revealed five coalition member groups: Youth Revolution Front, Youth Republic, Economic Fighters League, Democracy Hub, Fix the Country.
The NCAIM, also, invited "organisations, individuals, and pressure groups to come on board as partners in this coalition".
Noting coalition members will participate in the #FreeTheCitizens and #SayNoToGalamsey protests slated for October 3 to 5, the NCAIM stated their objectives were: 1) Declaration of a state of emergency against mining in water bodies and forest reserves. 2) The release of young Ghanaians who have been remanded in police custody following the Democracy Hub demonstrations.
It asserted the group's protest actions were "purely non-political" having only "the interest of Ghana at its very core".
