Police announce arrest, further arraignment of Abronye over 'offensive conduct conducive to breach of peace'

The Ghana Police Service has today announced they have arrested the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame 'Abronye' Baffoe.
On September 8, 2025, police explained Abronye was arrested "for Offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace".
"He is currently in custody and will be put before court," the GPS Facebook post concluded.

Abronye was recently in the news for filing applications for political asylum in eight countries, namely; the United States of America, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, and Côte d’Ivoire.
Per his petition, he needed international protection because he was facing “consistent, escalating political persecution, threats to my life, and systemic abuse of state security powers by the current Government of Ghana”.
