President Mahama holds security talks with U.S. General Dagvin Anderson
Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama, on Wednesday held a high-level meeting with U.S. General Dagvin R.M. Anderson to discuss partnership and shared security interests between Ghana and its international allies.
The meeting, described by officials as candid and focused, centred on strengthening cooperation to enhance regional stability and collective security.
Both leaders are said to have aligned on the need for deeper collaboration in addressing evolving security challenges across West Africa and the broader region.
Sources familiar with the engagement indicated that discussions touched on intelligence sharing, capacity building, and sustained military-to-military cooperation aimed at safeguarding peace and democratic governance.
The conversation underscored Ghana’s continued commitment to working with strategic partners like the U.S Africa Command(AFRICOM) to confront threats such as violent extremism, transnational crime and maritime insecurity.
Observers say the engagement reflects a shared determination to reinforce regional security architecture through practical cooperation and mutual trust, rather than rhetoric, as both sides seek to make the sub-region more secure.
