Richard Ahiagbah to contest for First Vice Chairman in 2026 NPP elections
The Director of Communications of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Richard Ahiagbah, has announced his decision to contest for the position of First Vice Chairman in the party’s upcoming 2026 internal elections.
Mr. Ahiagbah is seeking the mandate of party delegates as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s organisational structure ahead of future national contests.
His decision is seen as a move to transition from his current communications role into a broader leadership position within the party’s national executive.
The First Vice Chairman position is a key role within the NPP hierarchy, responsible for supporting the National Chairman in overseeing party administration and coordinating internal structures across the country.
Party insiders say Mr. Ahiagbah is expected to campaign on a platform focused on unity, grassroots mobilisation, and strengthening internal cohesion as the NPP prepares for the next phase of its political strategy.
The 2026 internal elections are anticipated to reshape the party’s national leadership and set the tone for its organisational direction in the coming years.
