The President of the Republic has appointed 18 new Deputy Heads of Missions to serve in Ghana’s diplomatic posts around the world, according to an official communication from the Office of the President, signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama.

The appointments, detailed in a letter dated September 11, 2025, were directed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for the necessary administrative action.

Among the notable appointees is General (Rtd.) Thomas Oppong Peprah, the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces, has been appointed Deputy High Commissioner to Canada.

His inclusion follows recent public discussions on the post-service deployment of senior military officers into diplomatic roles.

Other key appointees include Dr. Palmer Appiah-Gyan (Germany), Francisca Patoah Gyarko (Switzerland), Ben Dotsei Malor (United States of America), Harry Zevon, Ph.D. (China), Sulemana Ibun Iddirissu (India), Aquinas Quansah (United Kingdom), and George Harrison (South Korea).

Additional appointments were made to missions in the United Arab Emirates, The Netherlands, Italy, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Russia, South Africa, Egypt, and Denmark, completing a wide-ranging list of postings that reflect Ghana’s active diplomatic engagement with key global partners.

The letter concluded by requesting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to “take the necessary steps to facilitate the appointment process for the persons listed above.”
