Speaker Bagbin receives family of late Nii Okaija Adamafio, pays tribute to former Interior Minister
The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has received a delegation from the family of the late Nii Okaija Adamafio to formally inform Parliament of his passing and to announce arrangements for his burial.
During the meeting, Speaker Bagbin expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family and paid glowing tribute to the late statesman, describing him as a distinguished legal mind and a man of integrity, wisdom, courage and empathy.
He noted that late Adamafio was masterful in his delivery, both in public service and parliamentary debates, and left an indelible mark on Ghana’s parliamentary democracy through his principled leadership and commitment to national development.
Nii Okaija Adamafio served as Minister for the Interior under the Rawlings administration from 1997 to 2001.
He also made history as the first Member of Parliament for the Odododiodoo Constituency, serving from 1997 to 2001.
The Speaker’s remarks underscored the late former minister’s enduring legacy in Ghana’s political and democratic journey, as Parliament joins the family and the nation in mourning his passing.
