Speaker directs police to investigate attack on NAiMOS – Dela Edem
Spokesperson for the Minerals Commission, Dela Edem, has disclosed that the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has directed the Asutifi North Police Command to launch a full-scale investigation into the recent attack on officials of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operation Secretariat (NAiMOS).
Speaking on the Citizen Show with Nana Kwabena Bobie Ansah on November 3, 2025, Mr Edem revealed that all individuals connected to the incident had been invited to assist with investigations aimed at uncovering the circumstances surrounding the assault.
He emphasised that any actions or developments that threatened the work of NAiMOS would not be tolerated, stressing the government’s commitment to safeguarding institutions mandated to regulate and monitor mining activities.
“Anything that will hinder the work of NAiMOS will not be tolerated. NAiMOS is not against mining; it is against illegal mining,” Mr Edem stated.
