The Tema West Municipal Assembly has inaugurated a special sanitation task force to enforce bye-laws and tackle persistent sanitation challenges across the municipality.

Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Ludwig Teye Totimeh announced the initiative during a community cleanup exercise, describing it as a proactive step toward creating a cleaner and healthier environment.

As part of the campaign, the Assemblyman for the Lashibi Electoral Area,  Justice Tetteh, led residents in a massive cleanup exercise that involved desilting choked gutters and clearing refuse.

Mr. Totimeh explained that the formation of the task force is in line with President John Dramani Mahama’s “Resetting the Country” agenda, which emphasises development, inclusivity, and sustainability.

He stressed that improved sanitation is vital to protecting public health and enhancing the quality of life for residents.

“Maintaining a clean environment is not just about beautification; it is a public health necessity and a key step toward community development,” he stated.

Justice Tetteh, for his part, reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining the sanitation drive, assuring the Lashibi community that the exercise would not be a one-off event.

Several community members praised the initiative, describing it as timely and essential for raising sanitation standards in the constituency.
