V/R: Agbozume residents urgently appeal for help as broken water system deepens water crisis

Residents of Agbozume in the Volta Region are calling on the Ghana Water Company and the government to urgently intervene and restore their broken water system, as the community grapples with a deepening water crisis.
The ongoing issue, widely referred to as the "Agbozume Water Challenge," has left hundreds of households with little to no access to clean drinking water, forcing residents to walk long distances in search of this basic necessity.
For many in Agbozume and its surrounding areas, the lack of potable water has become a daily struggle, affecting health, hygiene, and overall quality of life.
“This has been going on for too long,” one resident lamented.
“We have children and elderly people who are suffering.
We just want water—something every human being deserves.”
The broken water system, which has reportedly remained unfixed for several months, has sparked growing frustration among locals, who say their repeated complaints have gone unanswered.
Community leaders and residents are now appealing directly to the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) and relevant government agencies to address the issue with urgency and restore reliable water supply to the area.
The situation has also raised concerns about potential public health risks, as some residents are resorting to unsafe water sources to meet their daily needs.
With no immediate solution in sight, the people of Agbozume are hoping their cry for help will finally prompt swift and lasting action.
