The Volta Regional Minister James Gunu, Council of State Member Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple and some key stakeholders have began a two-day tour of ongoing and abandoned projects sites across the region.

The tour is aimed at collecting first hand information on the abandoned projects and the progress of the ongoing government projects sites in the region.

The team today, Tuesday, November 18, 2025, inspected several critical infrastructure projects that are shaping the region’s future. 

These interventions were designed to enhance connectivity, stimulate economic growth, and improve the daily lives of the people of the Volta region.

The inspections covered:

* The 53.35km Have–Hohoe Road Project

* The 45km Asikuma–Have Road

* The 67km Asutsuare Junction–Volivo–Dorfor Adidome–Asikuma Junction Road, including a new bridge over the Volta River

* The Sayikope Bridge, a 67.5-metre span bridge over the Aklakpa River

* The 17.5km Atimpoku - Asikuma Road Project Lot 1 (Big push) ⁠

* The 8.5km Atimpoku–Asikuma Road Project (Lot 2 – Big Push)

* The 23.4km Asikuma–Anyirawase Road Project (Lot 3 – Big Push)

Addressing the media, Mr Gunu said these projects demonstrated government’s unwavering commitment to delivering quality infrastructure that connected communities and supported the region’s socio-economic transformation.

"The government of Ghana, led by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, a visionary and hardworking leader, is heading to the promised land with the massive developmental projects the president is undertaking across the country, with Volta region inclusive. This is the resetting agenda and we are seeing it on the ground," he said.

"Volta region is seeing a massive development and this has [raised] the region to an enviable position among other regions in the country," he added.

"I extend my appreciation to H.E. Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, representatives of the Regional House of Chiefs, religious representatives, the engineers, contractors, and all partner institutions for their dedication," the regional minister continued. 

"We look forward to continuing this exercise on day 2, which is tomorrow, as we ensure progress and accountability across all sites."
