A/R: Police arrest suspect for conspiring to commit robbery at Manso Abrense
The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested one Stephen Kwakye for allegedly conspiring to commit robbery against a gold miner at Manso Abrense, near Manso Nsiana, in the Ashanti Region.
The arrest, which took place on December 30, 2025, followed police intelligence indicating that Kwakye and other accomplices were planning to attack a miner who routinely transports gold to Kumasi for sale.
According to police, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect played a key role in organising the planned robbery, including monitoring the victim’s movements and coordinating with accomplices to accost him while in transit.
Acting on the intelligence, officers placed the suspect under surveillance and arrested him when he showed up to collect his share of the proceeds after being informed that the robbery had been successfully carried out.
Police say Kwakye admitted, during interrogation, to organising the robbery.
The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest his accomplices to face the full rigours of the law.
