Former NPP Parliamentary Candidate in U.S. custody over alleged domestic violence
Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Klottey Korle Constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party, is in U.S. custody after being arrested and charged in connection with a domestic stabbing incident.
According to multiple reports, Nortey was detained in the United States on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, for allegedly stabbing his wife following a heated argument that escalated into violence.
The incident reportedly occurred after a dispute between the couple, which drew the attention of local authorities.
Details from the scene indicate that the alleged attack happened during a domestic dispute, prompting police to take Nortey into custody.
He currently remains held by U.S. law enforcement and is expected to face legal proceedings under American domestic violence statutes.
The case has drawn attention both in Ghana and among Ghanaian communities abroad due to Nortey’s profile as a former Parliamentary Candidate and active political figure in the Klottey Korle Constituency.
More updates are expected as the case progresses through the U.S. legal system.
