Brogya Genfi engages ECOWAS maritime leaders ahead of International Maritime Conference
The Deputy Minister for Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi, has held a high-level meeting with officials of the ECOWAS Multinational Maritime Coordination Centre (MMCC) Zone F as part of preparations for the upcoming International Maritime Conference to be hosted in Ghana.
The engagement brought together the Director of MMCC Zone F, Naval Captain Daniel Gnamien Ehu of the Côte d’Ivoire Navy, and his Deputy, Commander Emmanuel Quayson‑Otoo of the Ghana Navy.
Discussions focused on logistical and strategic preparations for the conference, as well as broader operational matters concerning the Centre’s mandate to enhance maritime security cooperation, intelligence sharing, and coordinated patrols within the sub-region.
The meeting also reviewed progress made under Zone F’s framework and explored ways to strengthen collaboration among member states to address threats such as piracy, illegal fishing, trafficking, and other maritime crimes in the Gulf of Guinea.
Describing the engagement as highly productive, Mr Genfi expressed appreciation to the MMCC leadership for their comprehensive presentation and insights.
He also conveyed gratitude for the honour extended to him to serve as Guest of Honour at the forthcoming conference.
He reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to deepening regional partnerships and supporting collective efforts to safeguard maritime trade routes and coastal security across West Africa.
