Former NSS boss granted GHS 800 million bail over alleged GHS 1.5 billion theft case
The former Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), Mr Osei Assibey Antwi, has been granted bail in the sum of GHS 800 million with five sureties, each required to justify the bail with landed property of equivalent value.
The Accra High Court, presided over by Her Ladyship Justice Kizita Naa Kowaa Quarshie, granted the bail after Mr. Assibey Antwi pleaded not guilty to charges of money laundering, stealing, and causing financial loss to the state.
According to the prosecution’s facts, a total of GHC 1.5 billion is alleged to have been stolen or laundered by the former National Service Authority boss during his tenure.
Mr. Assibey Antwi, who appeared composed in court, denied all allegations levelled against him.
The court imposed strict bail conditions, aimed at ensuring his availability throughout the trial.
The case has been adjourned to allow both the prosecution and defense to complete the necessary pre-trial disclosures before the substantive hearing begins
