Police arrest 13 suspected sex Nigerian workers, landlords in New Juaben South operation
The New Juaben South Police Command has arrested 13 suspected sex workers during a special operation conducted within the municipality.
The suspects, aged between 15 and 31 and reported to be of Nigerian descent, were picked up during the swoop aimed at clamping down on prostitution and related activities in the area.
Police said the operation also led to the arrest of several alleged accomplices, including landlords and their partners, who are suspected of having facilitated or supported the activities.
According to the Command, the arrests form part of ongoing efforts to enforce Section 273 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), which prohibits prostitution and related offences.
The suspects are expected to assist with investigations and may be arraigned before the court after the process is completed.
The Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining public order and urged residents to volunteer information to support efforts to curb criminal activities in the municipality.
