Police arrest man with three pump action guns at snap check point in Boadua

Police at Akwatia have arrested a 36-year-old man, Stephen Nkansah, after three pump-action guns were found in a vehicle he was travelling in.
The incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, during a snap check operation at Staff Village, Boadua.
According to police, a Toyota Tundra pick-up with registration number WR 5535-13, carrying five mourners from Asamankese towards Boadua, was intercepted.
A search of the vehicle uncovered three pump-action guns — a Pardus pump action gun, a Hulglu Atroe pump action gun, and another unspecified pump action gun.
Suspect Stephen Nkansah reportedly claimed ownership of two of the weapons, while stating that the third belonged to his chief.
He explained to the police that they were on their way to attend a funeral at Akim Takyiman.
Nkansah has since been detained at the Akwatia Police Station to assist with investigations.
Police say further updates will be provided as inquiries continue.
Photographs of the suspect and the seized weapons have been taken as part of the investigation.
