A deadly shooting incident has left the Nkawkaw Zongo community in fear and mourning after three Fulani men were gunned down by masked assailants on the evening of Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
The victims—Mohammed Wanto, 47, Abubakari Abdallah, 57, and Abubakar Mohammed, 56—were attacked at their usual meeting spot near a veterinary shop in the Zongo Barracks area around 8:00 p.m.
Two of the men died on the spot, while the third was shot and killed attempting to flee.
A young boy caught in the crossfire sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital.

In response, the Municipal Chief Executive for Kwahu West, Halidu Tamimu, has announced plans to bolster security along the Zongo–Akuajoo stretch.
He revealed that CCTV cameras will be installed in the area through a partnership with the Minister for Communications and the CEO of the National Information Technology Agency (NITA).
Meanwhile, the Nkawkaw Central Police Command has launched an investigation into the killings.
While the identities and motives of the attackers remain unknown, police say they are pursuing multiple leads and are working to restore calm in the community.
Authorities are urging residents to remain calm and cooperate with ongoing investigations as efforts intensify to bring the perpetrators to justice.
