TikTok personality Ekow Black granted bail in assault case after viral video
Social media personality Christford Affadu Danful, widely known as Ekow Black, has been granted bail by the Adabraka District Court following his arrest over an alleged assault captured in a video that recently circulated on social media.
Ekow Black appeared before Her Worship Nana Abena Asoh Owusu Omenyo on Wednesday for the second time.
He pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault and was granted bail in the sum of GHS30,000 with two sureties.
According to the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Achana, the complainants in the case are officers from the National Police Headquarters.
Danful was arrested on January 15, 2026, by the Police Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) after a video surfaced online showing him physically attacking his girlfriend, Rachel Oduro.
The footage quickly spread across TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat, prompting public concern.
Investigations revealed that the couple had previously lived together and were known to have frequent disagreements, some of which reportedly turned physical.
In a caution statement to police, Danful admitted to hitting Oduro, claiming he suspected her of being unfaithful.
The incident has generated strong reactions on social media, with many users demanding stricter legal action and increased protection for victims of domestic violence.
The case has been adjourned to February 10, 2026, for further proceedings.
