Attend to Ohawu Agric College- Ketu North MP cries out to gov’t

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ketu North, Eric Edem Agbana, has called on the government to immediately prioritise the development of the Ohawu Agricultural College, citing years of systemic neglect.
In a Facebook post published on Saturday, August 2, Mr Agbana expressed disappointment over what he described as “longstanding abandonment” by successive administrations.
“This week, I formally submitted a letter to the Ministry of Agriculture, highlighting the longstanding neglect of the Ohawu Agricultural College by successive governments,” he wrote.
According to him, the state of the institution does not reflect its potential to contribute significantly to Ghana’s agricultural advancement.
Mr Agbana further noted that the current administration, led by President John Dramani Mahama, presents a renewed opportunity to correct the historical oversight.
“There is no better time to honour the promise of transforming this institution into a fully fledged University of Agriculture than during the next four years under President Mahama’s leadership,” he stressed.
He said the chiefs and people of Ketu North have shown strong support for the upgrade and are hopeful that their demand will no longer be ignored.
“We are determined to see this promise fulfilled, not merely as a political commitment, but as a strategic investment in the future of agriculture, education, and the overall development of our region,” he added.
Ohawu Agricultural College, situated in the Ketu North District of the Volta Region, has over the years trained scores of agricultural professionals, but continues to face infrastructural and resource constraints that threaten its relevance.
