Defence Minister champions road upgrade at alma mater ahead of 67th anniversary

Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, has led the successful construction of a new asphalt overlay on the internal roads of his alma mater, Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary, in Koforidua-Effiduase in the Eastern Region.
The project, facilitated by Dr. Omane Boamah in honour of the school's upcoming 67th anniversary and homecoming celebrations (13–15 June 2025), has significantly transformed the school's landscape, addressing years of deterioration and poor accessibility.
“The aim is to fix the deplorable nature of the road network to facilitate the free movement of staff, students, and visitors, ensure effective traffic control, and boost productivity,” the Minister explained.
Previously riddled with potholes and uneven surfaces, the road network has now been resurfaced with smooth and durable asphalt, improving safety and mobility across the campus.
The road upgrade has also extended benefits to neighbouring institutions such as St. Joseph Hospital and the Eastern Regional Office of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, thanks to its link with the main Effiduase road.
The enhanced infrastructure comes just in time for next week’s anniversary celebration, which will include a Career Guidance session where alumni will engage current students, the POJOBA AGM, a speech and prize-giving ceremony, and a vibrant homecoming programme.
Festivities will conclude with a live performance by Kwan Pa Band and a Thanksgiving Mass.
The intervention is a testament to Dr. Omane Boamah’s continued commitment to giving back to his former school and investing in youth development through improved infrastructure
