Dr. K.B. Tandoh, a former Deputy Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), has lauded the Service for its swift response in activating the Education in Emergency Contingency Plan following the recent tragic incident at Bawku Senior High School.

The plan, which is designed to ensure continuity of learning and safeguard the well-being of students during emergencies, was promptly deployed in the wake of the incident, which has raised nationwide concerns over safety in conflict-prone areas.

Dr. Tandoh praised the GES for demonstrating preparedness and a strong commitment to protecting students and minimising disruptions to their education.

He also pledged his personal and professional support toward the implementation of the plan and emphasised the importance of maintaining learning even in the face of crisis.

“As a country, we must ensure that learning never stops—regardless of the circumstances.

The GES’s swift action deserves commendation, and I stand ready to support this initiative in any way possible,” he said.

He further encouraged education stakeholders, teachers, and community leaders to familiarise themselves with the contingency framework, which outlines alternative learning approaches, including remote instruction, psychological support, and the safe relocation of students where necessary.
