Members of Parliament for Sunyani West Constituency in the Bono Region,  Millicent Yeboah Amankwah, has commended the University of Energy and Natural Resources' debating team for their achievement in a national debate competition.

The MP, who is also a first-timer in Parliament, expressed gratitude to the university's management, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Profr Elvis Asari Bediako, for the mandate that has brought success to the university.

The MP encouraged the students to focus on making an impact that would raise the name of the university.

She noted that the debate competition has given the university mileage and image, and would open up opportunities for other young people.

The MP pledged to support the university's vision and ensure that investments made would come to fruition.

When asked about his top priorities as MP, she said that anything that is a need and wish of the people would be his priority. She noted that her focus is not always on what the government can do, but rather on what she can do as an individual to support her constituents.

The MP highlighted some of the initiatives she has undertaken, including constructing roads, giving out mechanised boats, and providing street light bulbs.

The MP also announced plans to establish an apprenticeship programme to train unemployed people in various skills.

The programme she added would provide equipment and support to enable the trainees to start their own businesses.

The MP's vision is to set up a factory that would employ people and produce uniforms for schools.

The MP expressed her dedication to serving her constituents and pledged to work tirelessly to address their needs.

She thanked the university for the opportunity to interact with the debating team and congratulated them on their achievement.
