Management of the Methodist Health Training Institute at Afosu in the Eastern Region has dismissed recent allegations of systemic examination malpractice and unlawful charges at the school, describing them as “false, misleading, and without basis.”

The rebuttal follows a publication by ghananewsonline.com.gh alleging that tutors were involved in malpractice during examinations and that students were compelled to make payments to complete their programmes.

In a statement issued by the Institute, management clarified that tutors only entered the examination hall on the said day due to an emergency internet malfunction.

According to the Institute, the tutors were invited into the hall by external invigilators to help resolve the technical issue, ensuring that students could continue their examinations without disruption.

On claims of unlawful charges, management explained that no student has ever been forced to make any payment as a requirement for sitting examinations or completing their programme.

“As a mission school, Methodist Health Training Institute, Afosu is founded on the values of discipline, truth, and service.

We uphold the highest standards of integrity and moral responsibility in both academic and professional training,” the statement read.

The Institute further noted that it operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and strictly adheres to its policies and regulations regarding examinations and student welfare.

Management also expressed concern that the publishers of the allegations did not seek clarification before releasing the report, and confirmed that investigations are ongoing and assured stakeholders that appropriate action will be taken once findings are concluded.

The Institute reaffirmed its commitment to training competent and ethical healthcare professionals to serve Ghana with integrity.
