N/R: U.S. Embassy enhances education with new ICT center and learning materials

In a landmark event for the people of Nanton District in the Northern Region, the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S Embassy, Mr Rolf Olson has inaugurated a USAID-funded Information and Communications Technology (ICT) center.
The ICT center, the first of its kind in the district, will serve over 1,700 students from six schools, marking a significant advancement in educational resources for the region.
During the inauguration, Mr Olson emphasized the collaborative efforts that led to the establishment of the center.
“In the past year, we have collaborated with the private sector, government, and the leadership of these schools to improve education quality, increase private sector investment, and ensure teachers receive regular professional development, training, and mentorship. Today’s inauguration and donation are an outcome of these partnerships,” Mr Olson stated.
The new ICT center, built with the support of various partners, aims to provide students with essential technological skills, bridging the digital divide in underserved communities.
In addition to the ICT center, USAID provided teaching and learning materials to further enhance the quality of education.
This initiative is part of a broader effort by the U.S. government, through USAID in Ghana, to support over 200 low-fee private schools in northern Ghana.
These efforts are geared towards providing quality education to children in underserved communities, ensuring they have the tools and resources needed to succeed.
The inauguration of the ICT center and the donation of educational materials reflect the ongoing commitment of the U.S. government to improving educational outcomes in Ghana. By fostering partnerships with the private sector, government, and local school leadership, USAID aims to create sustainable improvements in education, benefitting thousands of students across the region, he stressed.
