NSMQ 2025: Mfantsipim rises to semi-finals, edging out Prempeh and Adisco
2024 National Science and Maths Quiz champion Mfantsipim School, alias Kwabotwe, has edged out fierce rivals Prempeh College and Adisadel College (Adisco) in a dramatic quarter-final showdown for this year's competition at the SGS Auditorium at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Cape Coast, Central Region.
Kwabotwe showed dominance from the very start with an early lead with 25 points, as Prempeh College managed 20 points, and Adisco trailed with 15 points at the end of round one.
For round two, the Kwabotwe pressed their advantage with speed and accuracy clocking 41 points. Prempeh rose by two points to 22, while Adisadel panted at 15 points.
Adisco shone in third round, alias Problem of the Day, earning an impressive six out of 10, besting Mfantsipim (four out of 10), and Prempeh (two out of 10). Kwabotwe did not relax their hold on the overall lead, however.
For round four, Mfantsipim rose to 61 points. Prempeh's efforts yielded only 40 points. Adisadel achieved 31 points.
When the final bell rang after the fifth and final riddle-filled round, Mfantsipim School peaked at 64 points, sealing victory.
Meanwhile, Prempeh College and Adisadel College were locked in a tie at 40 points each.
Mfantsipim School proceeds into the semi-finals of NSMQ 2025 with this emphatic triumph, with a chance to defend their championship.
